Sfera Politicii Primul număr al revistei Sfera Politicii apare în decembrie 1991, editat de Fundaţia “Societatea Civilă”. Formatul revistei era unul de mărimea unei pagini A4. În ceea ce priveşte primele sale apariţii, având în vedere contextul (în primii ani ai perioadei postcomuniste), tipul de hârtie (acelaşi pentru coperţi ca şi pentru paginile revistei) putea da impresia că ar fi fost vorba de un ziar sau publicaţie de informaţie. Revista avea, la acel moment, aproximativ 50 de pagini, lucru care s-a menţinut până către sfârşitul anilor 1990.
Important este, totodată, faptul că revista apărea înaintea oricărei instituţionalizări a domeniului ştiinţelor politice (învăţământ sau cercetare) în România de după 1989. Prima facultate, unde ştiinţele politice apar ca domeniu separat, este creată la Universitatea din Bucureşti, în toamna anului 1991, însă titulatura acesteia desemnează ştiinţele umane, ca un cadru mai larg pentru ştiintele politice. Abia în 1996, adoptă « ştiinţele politice » ca domeniu strict în învăţământul superior. În acest context, ca primă revistă de ştiinţe politice din România postcomunistă, Sfera Politicii adoptă o strategie de publicare în scopul de a-şi crea propriul public, prin comentariile publicate în paginile sale şi semnate de cadre universitare şi înalţi funcţionari români, chiar politicieni, se încerca crearea unui public.
Dacă în special în prima jumătate a anilor 1990, autorii veneau din domenii diverse, către sfârşitul anilor 1990 ei erau universitari sau cercetători care dovediseră preocupări pentru domeniul, recent apărut, al ştiinţelor politice. Aceştia erau fie dintre primii licenţiaâi în domeniul ştiinţelor politice, fie dintre tinerii sociologi, filosofi şi istorici care după 1989 s-au consacrat (în cadrul academic) noului domeniu de cercetare, dar şi critici literari sau cercetători din perioada comunistă, în cele mai multe cazuri, universitari.
Pentru o scurtă perioadă în cursul anilor precedenţi 2006/2008 revista a apărut şi bilunar, însă din ianuarie 2009 a revenit la periodicitatea iniţială, ca publicaţie lunară.
În prezent, se încearcă, dar rămâne încă un obiectiv pentru viitor, deschiderea revistei pentru autori tineri, universitari, dar şi doctoranzi sau studenţi la master în anii terminali.
Membrii redacţiei sunt dintre primii specialişti în domeniu, tineri universitari ai anilor 1990 sau dintre tinerii cercetători sau universitari actualmente, având o formaţie în ştiinţele politice (şi uneori o dublă specializare). În aceleaşi categorii tind să se înscrie şi autorii, având formaţii diverse, totuşi specializarea dominantă rămâne ştiinta politică.
Publicul actual se compune în cea mai mare parte din cadre universitare şi studenţi ai facultăţilor de ştiinte politice, dar şi ai facultăţilor de sociologie sau de ştiintele comunicării.
Articolele sunt redactate, în marea lor majoritate, în limba română, dar şi în limba engleză. Textele sunt întotdeauna însoţite de un rezumat şi de cuvinte-cheie în limba engleză.
Un alt obiectiv este impulsionarea publicării în limbi străine. Dacă în acest moment se constată tendinţa dominantă a utilizării limbii engleze, încercăm încurajarea publicării în această limbă de circulaţie, dar şi în alte limbi europene, de exemplu, limba franceză, însemnând prin aceasta că dorim să deschidem revista către spaţiul cultural european.
Selecţia articolelor revine membrilor redacţiei, uneori, atunci când se impune, prin consultarea altor specialişti, universitari sau cercetători.
Numerele sunt tematice dar ele pot conţine (conţin) şi texte în afara tematicii propuse.
Structura revistei se prezintă astfel :
- Un articol care introduce tema/subiectul despre care se tratează în numărul respectiv (sub denumirea de ‘editorial’) ;
- Mai multe articole pe tema/subiectul anunţat(ă) ;
- Rubrica « Arhiva » în care sunt prezentate documente produse în perioada comunistă ;
- Un articol (în afara temei) deseori de filosofie politică sau psihologie politică
- Un interviu cu un specialist al problematicilor în domeniu în spaţiul românesc (străin sau român)
- Recenzii ale cărtilor recent apărute (în prezent, în majoritatea cazurilor, cărţi apărute în România)
Revista este accesibilă gratuit pe internet. Publicarea ei pe internet precede cu o săptămână apariţia sa în format hârtie.
Sfera Politicii
The Sphere of Politics, edited by the Civil Society
Foundation, first came to light in December 1991. The
magazine’s format was that of an A4 sized paper, the
same kind of paper being used both for the front and
back cover as for the rest of the magazine. Recalling
its first issues, while taking into consideration the
context of its publication – the first years of the
post-communist era – there should be no surprise the
aspect of the magazine could have given the impression
more of a newspaper, or rather an “information
brochure”, than of a Political Science Review. Still,
even at those times, The Sphere of Politics came out in
approximately 50 pages, a number which remained constant
until the end of the nineties.
The first issues have been published before the
institutionalisation of the field of Political Science
(be it study field or research area) could have taken
place. Actually, the first faculty of Political Science
has been established in the fall of 1991, at University
of Bucharest; whatsoever, its name was employed only to
introduce Social Sciences by and large, as a wider frame
for Political Science. It was only in 1996 that
Political Science established itself as a proper
component of the higher education system. It was in this
context that the Sphere of Politics embarked on a new
publishing strategy, with the aimed target of creating
its own dedicated public, throughout comments, bearing
the names of members of the academic community, high
ranking dignitaries or even politicians.
While during the first half of the nineties the authors
originated from miscellaneous domains, at the end of the
decade they were academics, scholars and researchers,
all showing high interest in the recently created field
of Political Science. They were either first generation
graduates in Political Science, or graduates with majors
in Sociology, Philosophy or History (all of which were
involved in the new ongoing research programmes); or,
they could have also been literary critics or
researchers who were active during communist era as
well.
For a short while (between 2006 and 2008), the magazine
was published twice a month, but since January 2009 it
has returned to its original format, as a monthly
publication.
Presently, one of the tasks of The Sphere of Politics is
to facilitate the promotion of young authors, Ph.D., MA
or evens high qualified senior students.
The members of our editorial board are undoubtedly some
of the best in the field. Either fresh graduates, young
researchers or scholars who graduated during the 90's,
they all own a degree or even a double degree in
Political Science or auxiliary fields, like Sociology,
Philosophy or Communication Studies. This can be applied
to our permanent or occasional collaborators, too. As
for our target, this is supposedly made of academics,
scholars, researchers and last but not least young
students in the above mentioned fields, interested in
improving their knowledge and expertise.
The articles are written mostly in Romanian, but we
happily greet English, French or Italian written
contributions as well. The texts should be always joined
by an abstract and a sequence of key-words, compulsory
drafted in English.
The selection of the articles is made by the members of
our editorial board, sometimes according to specific
themes. Other scholars, researchers or members of the
academic community are always asked for professional
expertise.
The Sphere of Politics has a tradition in publishing
specific issues, dedicated to topical subjects, but
generally firm articles outside the chosen topic are
accepted too.
The structure of the magazine comes as follows:
- One introductory article (namely an Editorial)
- A collection of articles abiding by a given topic
- “The Archives of The Sphere of Politics”, where
documents attesting the communist period are showcased
- An essay
- An interview with a Romanian or a foreign scholar, on
issues regarding Romanian public space
- Reviews of recent published books
The magazine is freely accessible on the internet, the
online edition preceding the printed version by a week`s
time.
