Sfera Politicii
Revista Sfera Politicii este prima revistă de știință și teorie politică apărută în România după căderea comunismului. Primul număr a fost tipărit în decembrie 1991, de atunci revista având apariție neîntreruptă.
Sfera Politicii a jucat și joacă un rol important în difuzarea principalelor teme de știință și teorie politică, ca și în susținerea unei reflecții politologice viabile în peisajul științific și cultural din România.
Sfera Politicii pune la îndemâna cercetătorilor, a oamenilor politici și a publicului larg comentarii, analize și studii de specialitate realizate pe baza paradigmelor teoretice și metodologice ale științei și teoriei politice actuale.
Sfera Politicii își face o misiune din contribuția la consolidarea societății democratice și de piață din România.
Revista și-a început activitatea editorială înaintea instituţionalizării domeniului ştiinţelor politice (învăţământ sau cercetare) în România de după 1989. Prima facultate unde ştiinţele politice apar ca domeniu de studiu este creată la Universitatea din Bucureşti, în toamna anului 1991, însă în cadrul mai larg al ştiinţelor umane, abia în 1996 «ştiinţele politice» devin domeniu strict în învăţământul superior.
În acest context, ca primă revistă de ştiinţe politice din România postcomunistă, Sfera Politicii și-a propus să contribuie la dezvoltarea acestui domeniu și să-l deschidă spre public, găzduind în paginile sale articole semnate de cadre universitare, cercetători, înalţi funcţionari români, inclusiv politicieni.
Dacă, în special în prima jumătate a anilor 1990, autorii veneau din domenii diverse, către sfârşitul anilor 1990 ei erau universitari sau cercetători care dovediseră preocupări pentru domeniul, recent apărut, al ştiinţelor politice. Aceştia erau fie dintre primii licenţiați în domeniul ştiinţelor politice, fie dintre tinerii sociologi, filosofi şi istorici care după 1989 s-au consacrat în noul domeniu de cercetare, dar şi critici literari sau cercetători din perioada comunistă, în cele mai multe cazuri, universitari.
În timp, revista a reușit să atingă unul dintre obiectivele sale majore, și anume deschiderea pentru autori tineri, universitari, dar şi doctoranzi sau studenţi la master în anii terminali.
Publicul actual se compune în cea mai mare parte din cadre universitare şi studenţi ai facultăţilor de ştiinte politice, dar şi ai facultăţilor de sociologie, istorie, drept sau de ştiințe ale comunicării.
De la debutul ei, revista a fost editată de fundația „Societatea Civilă”. Din 2013, editorul revistei a devenit fundația „Orient Expres”, iar din 2022, fundația „Sfera Publică XXI”. Din 2016, Facultatea de Științe Politice din cadrul SNSPA este co-editor al revistei.
Timp de 20 de ani, revista a avut apariții lunare, cu excepția perioadei 2006-2008 când a apărut bilunar. Începând cu 2013, revista a avut patru numere pe an, pentru ca, din 2021, să aibă o frecvență bianuală.
De regulă, numerele sunt tematice, putând însă conţine şi texte în afara tematicii propuse.
În mod tradițional, structura revistei se prezintă astfel: un articol care introduce tema numărului respectiv (sub denumirea de „editorial”); mai multe articole pe tema anunţată; rubrica „Arhiva” în care sunt prezentate documente produse în perioada comunistă; un articol (în afara temei) deseori de filosofie politică sau psihologie politică; un interviu cu un specialist al problematicilor în domeniu în spaţiul românesc (străin sau român); recenzii ale cărtilor recent apărute (în majoritatea cazurilor, cărţi apărute în România).
În prezent, din conținutul revistei fac parte: secțiunea articolelor tematice, secțiunea „Varia” (cu articole pe diverse teme), secțiunea „Dosar electoral”, interviuri, recenzii.
Articolele sunt redactate, în marea lor majoritate, în limba română, dar şi în limba engleză. Revista încurajează redactarea textelor și în alte limbi de circulație internațională. Textele sunt întotdeauna însoţite de un rezumat şi de cuvinte-cheie în limba engleză.
Toate articolele trimise spre publicare sunt supuse unui proces de peer review.
Revista nu percepe niciun fel de taxă pentru publicare. Drepturile de autor asupra articolelor publicate aparțin autorilor.
Sfera Politicii asigură acces liber, în conformitate cu definiţia BOAI de acces deschis, fiind disponibilă gratuit pe Internet.
Sfera Politicii
The Sphere of Politics is the first journal of science and political theory published in Romania after the fall of Communism. The first issue was printed in December 1991, since then the magazine has been published continuously.
The Sphere of Politics has played and continues to play an important role in disseminating the main topics of science and political theory, as well as in supporting a viable political science reflection in the scientific and cultural landscape of Romania.
The Sphere of Politics makes available to researchers, politicians and the general public comments, analyzes and specialized studies based on the theoretical and methodological paradigms of current political science and theory.
The Sphere of Politics makes a mission from its contribution to the consolidation of the democratic society in Romania.
The journal has been published before the institutionalization of the field of Political Sciences (be it study field or research area) in Romania after 1989. The first faculty of Political Science has been established in the fall of 1991, at University of Bucharest, but in the broader framework of human sciences. It was only in 1996 that Political Science established itself as a proper component of the higher education system.
In this context, as the first journal of political science in post-communist Romania, The Sphere of Politics aims to contribute to the development of this field and open it to the public, hosting in its pages articles signed by academics, researchers, high ranking dignitaries, including politicians.
While during the first half of the nineties the authors originated from miscellaneous domains, at the end of the decade they were academics, scholars and researchers, all showing high interest in the recently created field of Political Science. They were either first generation graduates in Political Science, or young sociologists, philosophers and historians who established themselves, after 1989, in the new field of research, but also literary critics or researchers from the communist period, in most cases academics.
Over time, the journal has managed to achieve one of its major goals. It is about promoting young authors, Ph.D., MA or evens high qualified senior students.
The current audience is composed mostly of academics and students of political science, but also of sociology, history, law or communication sciences, interested in improving their knowledge and expertise.
Since its inception, the journal has been edited by the „Civil Society ” Foundation. From 2013, the editor of the journal became the „Orient Expres” Foundation, and from 2022, the „Public Sphere XXI” Foundation. Since 2016, the Faculty of Political Sciences within SNSPA is co-editor of the journal.
For 20 years The Sphere of Politics was a monthly journal except for the period 2006/2008, when it was published twice a month. Since 2013, the journal has had four issues per year, and since 2021 it has a biannual frequency.
Usually, the Sphere of Politics publishes thematic issues, dedicated to topical subjects, but generally, articles outside the chosen topic are accepted too.
Traditionally, the structure of the journal comes as follows: an article introducing the topic of that issue (namely an „editorial”); several articles on the announced topic; the „Archive”, where documents attesting the communist period are showcased; an article (outside the topic) often of political philosophy or political psychology; an interview with a Romanian or a foreign specialist, on issues regarding Romanian public space; reviews of recently published books (in most cases, books published in Romania).
Currently, the content of the magazine includes: the thematic articles section, the “Varia” section (with articles on various topics), the “Electoral file” section, interviews, reviews.
The articles are written mostly in Romanian, but also in English. The journal encourages the writing of texts in other languages of international circulation. The texts should be always accompanied by an abstract and keywords in English.
All articles submitted for publication are subject to a peer review process.
The journal does not charge any fee for publication. The copyright on the published articles belongs to the authors.
The Sphere of Politics provides free access, in accordance with the BOAI definition of Open Access, and is available free of charge on the Internet.
